Standard Shows

The concert was hosted in the shop, and started towards the end of open shop hours and the audience was made up of friends, volunteers and supporters or the organization.

The Open Door Community is a community of the previously homeless and the medical clinic associated with this organization set up the show at JavaLords, a little five points area coffee shop. The audience was made up of volunteers and friends of the clinic as well as Emory medical students who have a connection with the clinic. By splitting the donations we were able to raise a significant amount of money.

An Above and Beyond Fundraising Opportunity

Lynchburg Grows
Lynchburg, VA

Lynchburg Grows is a 7-acre urban farm. They help to build job skills among the disadvantaged population while providing Lynchburg with local produce through a CSA, selling at the community market and deals with local school districts.

Lynchburg Grows saw an opportunity for a fall fundraiser and pulled out all of the stops. The event was held at Rivermont Pizza, who created a special menu for the evening designed around Lynchburg Grows produce. In addition, Rivermont Pizza donated 10% of the proceeds from the evening to Lynchburg Grows.

Community Meals

Random Row Books
Charlottesville, VA

Random Row set up the show to be a benefit for the Quality Community Council, a local community organization and their downstairs neighbors. They were able to get donated food and hosted a community dinner in the bookstore, which was followed by the ukulele performance. The Ukulele by Bicycle Tour inspired them to continue hosting community dinners in their space on a weekly basis.

Dunlieth Community Garden
Greensboro, NC

Community gardeners and friends met in the garden for a potluck dinner, which was followed by the ukulele concert. Conversation, stories and singing along were as abundant as the food.

Part of a Larger Event

Wild Oats Coop Market
Williamstown, MA

Wild Oats hosted a local food BBQ for the end of their Local Foods month. Local food was served to over 100 people. Lee performed throughout the dinner as background (and sometimes foreground) music.

The audience was made up of ukulele players, other old time musicians and friends of the Monkey Bottom. The evening started with a potluck, went into the concert and finished with a jam session for those who brought instruments and stuck around into the night.
